Raspberry Pi 5: Retail Box to Production Box

Update your RPi Installer MicroSD Card (Optional)

Download and install the Raspberry Pi Imager software for your operating system. In this case we will use the Linux version as I am running Ubuntu 25.10. Rather than download and run the appimage, we will get the software via the Ubuntu software repos.

Run the following commands to get the imaging software:

• sudo apt-get update
• sudo apt-get install rpi-imager

Unbox your MicroSD card and your MicroSD card USB holder/adapter. Carefully place the micro sdcard into the USB card holder. It shouldn't take any force to insert the card. If you feel much resistance, you likely have it upside down. Insert the USB card older into an available USB port in your system. Do not mount the card/USB holder if prompted.
